The North West Territories. The Northwest Territories has the worst royalty regime in Canada from the public’s point of view (and probably the best from industry’s). The lack of return to the GNWT and to the local communities has been the subject of many discussions. THE ADMINISTRATION OF MINERAL EXPLORATION IN THE YUKON AND NORTHWEST TERRITORIES EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The purpose of this study has been to identify ways to streamline the administrative procedures and regulations with respect to mineral exploration in the Yukon and Northwest Territories.
